Collaboration with Students and Colleagues

PictureTalking with students not at them.

I am friendly and collaborative by nature and have a very good relationship with the students I teach and the colleagues I work with. In fact, I see collaboration with my immediate teaching team as central to my responsibilities as a teacher. It is with that in mind that I put a great emphasis on establishing trusting relationships with students and colleagues.

PictureTeam teaching pioneers!

For two years Matt, a colleague from the ESOL Department, and I pioneered team teaching in the ninth and tenth grades at AAS Moscow. Every day we planned, taught and assessed together, learning from one another and using our different talents to create a dynamic and supportive learning environment. Similarly, I have worked very closely with the ESL support teacher Dianne Game in Year 7 in Bangkok. Every day I learn from colleagues' approaches to students and student learning.

I work well with colleagues across my department and division too, speaking up with a clear philosophical vision but ready to listen to teachers with different backgrounds and approaches. I was also selected as the middle school faculty representative on the pay and benefits committee in 2012, canvassing opinion across my division and communicating my colleagues views to the administration.
